The Hunger Games is a film adaptation of a young adult dystopian novel series by American author Suzanne Collins. The series includes a trilogy that centers on teenage protagonist Katniss Everdeen, along with a prequel set 64 years prior to the events of the original books. In the story, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister’s place in the Hunger Games, a televised event where two teenagers from each of the twelve districts of Panem are randomly selected to fight to the death.
